2018- the year of ONE. HUNDRED. BOOKS. As far as books go, I have a whole lot of complaints about this one. Mainly, I wasn’t really interested in the the woman (Sarah Graves) whose story the author chose to follow because I feel like we weren’t presented with enough solid information about her and that the author gave a TON of conjecture on what she may have thought and felt during this journey inside of facts. It felt like only about 1/3 of the book focused on what was actually going on in Donner Pass and the Hastings Cutoff and all the other spots where real hardships occurred. I learned a lot about what happened before and after the real tragedies and actual cannibalism happened, but felt like the author almost just glided right past these parts. This book did make me want to read other books about the Donner Party, and I was specifically interested in James Reed and the notorious Louis Keseberg. #thedonnerparty #stephyoungreads #read2018 #bookstagram
